The "Crusader" was a carrier based super sonic air superiority fighter. With its high speed and ability to perform at above 95% of the earths atmosphere it was designed for defense against a Mach-2 bomber.
It had a tilting 2 position wing providing for carrier use. it was adapted to carry special weapons and electronic intelligence equipment for photo reconnaissance.
It also carried an external fuel tank.
The museum F8 was built in 1958 and donated to the city of Pueblo by the Mullen Preparatory High School of Denver CO.
