This helicopter was manufactured by the Sikorsky Aircraft division of United Aircraft Corp. and was first produced in 1956 and flown by all US forces, eight foreign countries and commercial airlines.

Used by the US Navy for anti-submarine warfare training and was used extensively for rescue work.

It could carry 12 to 18 passengers, 8 litters or a pay load of 4000 for 100 miles.

The museum's SH-34J was donated in 1980 by the US Naval Air Systems Command in Washington D.C. and was transported by truck from Davis Monthan AFB, AZ.
